Seven of Cups is a fashion and art-driven ceramics studio located in Ojai, California started by ceramicist and Creative Director Aimee Heimbinder. Aimee started her career in fashion merchandising and publishing in New York City before starting a design firm in Texas with friends in 2005. By 2015 she morphed her part of business into a design and brand strategy consultancy working exclusively with nonprofits.
In 2020, Aimee, her husband Daniel and their young family moved to Ojai where she started wheel-throwing pottery as an answer to her husband’s request that she quit acquiring dishes. What started as a work around has become a passion and a whole new way of seeing things. Aimee sees giving up perfection for a slightly mismatched pair of mugs as a major upgrade.
Daniel is a painter and illustrator and has been since age six. He attended the High School for Performing and Visual Arts before being recruited to The Art Institute of Chicago where he majored in Fine Art. After later moving to New York State and graduating from Skidmore College, Daniel moved to New York City where he assisted several major artists and gallerists of that time in addition to his own solo and group shows in NYC and abroad. Aimee and Daniel met in NYC and later relocated to Texas where they started a family including two teenage daughters, Heart and Heron.
Today, now married 18 years, and living happily in the Happy Valley of Ojai, the two share a home studio where they co-create beautiful one-of-a-kind hand-painted, wheel-thrown ceramics as well as their own artwork.
The name Seven of Cups was inspired in part by the mystical energy surrounding the village they now call home and also by a lifelong obsession of Aimee’s with numbers and chance. Aimee and Daniel love feeding people and hosting cocktail and dinner parties where ALL of the cups and plates get used.
